Boiler Repair in Robesonia, PA
In Robesonia, 30% of households heat with oil and 27% with gas — enough of each that neither is an assumption anybody should make about your house without looking.
In brief
Fuel oil heats 30% of homes in Robesonia, a substantial minority alongside gas at 27%. Which one a property burns decides the trade as much as the fault does, because an oil burner is a serviced appliance and a gas boiler is a different machine with different controls.

How Robesonia heats
Both fuels feed boilers and both burn indoors, so both can produce carbon monoxide when combustion or venting goes wrong. CPSC’s guidance does not vary by fuel: alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas, and annual professional service.
| Households in Robesonia | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 30% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 27% |
| Electricity | 35% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 8% |
Across the 274 towns we cover in Pennsylvania, 19% of households heat with oil. Robesonia sits 7 points above that.
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25040 (house heating fuel), 2023 release. Universe: 1,823 occupied housing units. The Census asks what the house is heated with, not what equipment does the heating. The oil share above therefore includes furnaces as well as boilers.
Carbon monoxide
CPSC recommends CO alarms on every level of the home and outside sleeping areas, and specifically not in kitchens or above fuel-burning appliances. The instinct is to put one next to the boiler, and that is the one place the guidance says not to.

Hot water or steam
Two systems share the name boiler and very little else. Steam distributes vapor and returns condensate by gravity; hot water pushes water round a loop with a pump and holds it under pressure. Radiators can look identical from the room.
The boiler tells you which: a sight glass means steam, a pressure gauge and an expansion tank mean hot water.

What to ask whoever comes
If a replacement is proposed, ask what ruled out the components. Circulators, controls, expansion tanks and relief valves are replaceable, and most faults are one of them rather than the vessel.

Checking a plumber in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has no state license for plumbers. Its Department of Labor and Industry states it has no jurisdiction and keeps no records of which municipalities require one, so the only reliable answer is your own city or township. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Boilers apart, Robesonia can use this number for anything.
