What a Boiler Job Costs
No price appears here. What a boiler job is made of, and why the burner service is the part that decides the rest.
In brief
What drives a boiler quote is whether the fault is a component or the heat exchanger, the fuel it burns, and the age of the appliance. Any replacement quote is worth two pieces of evidence: what actually failed, and what the existing efficiency is.
No price appears
BoilerBridge routes calls to independent contractors who set their own prices, and the range on heating work is wide enough that a national figure would mislead. No source we would cite publishes one.
What drives it
Whether the fault is a component or the vessel. Circulators, controls, expansion tanks and relief valves are replaceable parts; a failed heat exchanger ends the appliance. Establishing which is most of the decision.
Then access and the rest of the loop. A replacement that leaves oversized emitters, uninsulated pipework and an uncommissioned temperature control behind delivers less than the AFUE on the box suggests.
The running cost that belongs in the sum
DOE’s current minimums are 84 to 86 percent depending on fuel and type, and its federal purchasing guidance asks 0.90 AFUE for ENERGY STAR certified gas boilers. Against a pre-standard appliance that gap is real and it runs every winter.
It is not an argument for replacing a working boiler. It is an argument for putting the figure in the sum when the decision is already open.

The two things a replacement quote should rest on
Which component was tested, and what the combustion readings were. A quote that mentions neither has reached its conclusion without the evidence that supports it.
A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Boilers give this site its name and not its limits.
