Boiler Repair in Perkasie, PA
Perkasie splits its heating: 24% on oil, 41% on gas. Both feed boilers, and the two are different machines to own.
In brief
24% of homes in Perkasie run on fuel oil against 41% on gas. The figure describes house heating rather than the appliance itself, but it is the best free indication of which kind of boiler a given street is likely to hold.

How Perkasie heats
Where neither fuel dominates, nobody assumes anything about your house, which is an advantage. Say which fuel and whether it is hot water or steam when you call, and the first visit starts further along.
| Households in Perkasie | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 24% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 41% |
| Electricity | 30% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 4% |
Across the 274 towns we cover in Pennsylvania, 19% of households heat with oil. Perkasie sits about level with that.

The table counts what a household burns, not what burns it. A furnace and a boiler on the same fuel are one number here, and we do not pretend otherwise.
Carbon monoxide
CPSC recommends CO alarms on every level of the home and outside sleeping areas, and specifically not in kitchens or above fuel-burning appliances. The instinct is to put one next to the boiler, and that is the one place the guidance says not to.

Hot water or steam
If there is a gauge reading in pounds per square inch and a tank somewhere above or beside the boiler, it is a hot water system. If there is a glass tube on the side of the boiler with a water line visible in it, it is steam. The two fail differently and are serviced differently.
Steam is the older arrangement and survives mostly in older housing, which is where a good share of the oil heat in this state is.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask what the combustion readings were and whether they changed since last year. One set of numbers is a snapshot; two are a trend, and a trend is what shows something drifting before it fails.

Checking a plumber in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has no state license for plumbers. Its Department of Labor and Industry states it has no jurisdiction and keeps no records of which municipalities require one, so the only reliable answer is your own city or township. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Past boilers, Perkasie is covered for the rest of it.
