Boiler Repair in New Holland, PA
New Holland runs about 17% oil and 42% gas. Both feed boilers, both are serviced by people in the area, and the two machines have almost nothing in common once they stop working.
In brief
17% of homes in New Holland run on fuel oil against 42% on gas. The figure describes house heating rather than the appliance itself, but it is the best free indication of which kind of boiler a given street is likely to hold.

How New Holland heats
In a town split between fuels, the first useful fact is which one you have, because an oil boiler and a gas boiler are different machines to own. Oil has consumables and a tank; gas has neither.
The consequence is maintenance. Oil forces an annual appointment. Gas does not, and CPSC recommends one regardless.
| Households in New Holland | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 17% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 42% |
| Electricity | 29% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 11% |
Across the 274 towns we cover in Pennsylvania, 19% of households heat with oil. New Holland sits about level with that.

The Census asks what the house is heated with, not what equipment does the heating. The oil share above therefore includes furnaces as well as boilers.
Carbon monoxide
A CO alarm is not a smoke alarm and the two are not interchangeable. CPSC asks for CO alarms specifically, placed on every level and outside where people sleep — not in the kitchen and not directly above a burner.

Hot water or steam
The quickest way to tell is the water. A hot water system is a sealed loop under pressure with a gauge reading psi; a steam system boils, sends vapor up and lets the condensate run back down by gravity. They are serviced differently and they fail differently, and knowing which you have shortens the first call.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask whether the fault was diagnosed or inferred. "It is probably the circulator" and "the circulator is drawing no current" are different sentences, and only one of them justifies a part.

Checking a plumber in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has no state license for plumbers. Its Department of Labor and Industry states it has no jurisdiction and keeps no records of which municipalities require one, so the only reliable answer is your own city or township. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Boilers apart, New Holland can use this number for anything.
