Boiler Repair in Drumore, PA
With 23% of homes on oil, Drumore has a real oil minority rather than a token one. That usually means you have a choice of contractor, which is not true everywhere.
In brief
Fuel oil heats 23% of homes in Drumore, a substantial minority alongside gas at 14%. Which one a property burns decides the trade as much as the fault does, because an oil burner is a serviced appliance and a gas boiler is a different machine with different controls.

How Drumore heats
In a town split between fuels, the first useful fact is which one you have, because an oil boiler and a gas boiler are different machines to own. Oil has consumables and a tank; gas has neither.
The consequence is maintenance. Oil forces an annual appointment. Gas does not, and CPSC recommends one regardless.
| Households in Drumore | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 23% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 14% |
| Electricity | 19% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 43% |
Across the 274 towns we cover in Pennsylvania, 19% of households heat with oil. Drumore sits about level with that.

Carbon monoxide
The alarm and the service do different jobs. An alarm tells you combustion has already gone wrong; the annual service is what stops it going wrong. CPSC recommends both, and neither substitutes for the other.

Hot water or steam
Two systems share the name boiler and very little else. Steam distributes vapor and returns condensate by gravity; hot water pushes water round a loop with a pump and holds it under pressure. Radiators can look identical from the room.
The boiler tells you which: a sight glass means steam, a pressure gauge and an expansion tank mean hot water.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask whether the fault was diagnosed or inferred. "It is probably the circulator" and "the circulator is drawing no current" are different sentences, and only one of them justifies a part.

Checking a plumber in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has no state license for plumbers. Its Department of Labor and Industry states it has no jurisdiction and keeps no records of which municipalities require one, so the only reliable answer is your own city or township. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Boilers apart, Drumore can use this number for anything.
