Boiler Repair in Trenton, OH
At 6%, oil is a minority fuel in Trenton and a perfectly ordinary one inside the houses that use it. The machine is the same; the availability of somebody to look at it is not.
In brief
In Trenton, fuel oil accounts for 6% of household heating against 60% for gas. Where oil is this much of a minority, finding somebody who services burners matters more than describing what the boiler is doing.

How Trenton heats
Being the only burner on the street has one advantage worth taking: the same contractor will remember your system. Where oil is common a visit is routine and anonymous; where it is rare it tends to be the same person each year, and continuity is worth more than it sounds on a machine that is serviced once a year.
| Households in Trenton | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 6% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 60% |
| Electricity | 33% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 1% |
Across the 56 towns we cover in Ohio, 8% of households heat with oil. Trenton sits about level with that.

The table counts what a household burns, not what burns it. A furnace and a boiler on the same fuel are one number here, and we do not pretend otherwise.
Carbon monoxide
"Have the heating system professionally inspected and serviced annually to ensure proper operation" is CPSC’s wording, and it is a safety recommendation about combustion and venting rather than an efficiency suggestion.

Hot water or steam
If there is a gauge reading in pounds per square inch and a tank somewhere above or beside the boiler, it is a hot water system. If there is a glass tube on the side of the boiler with a water line visible in it, it is steam. The two fail differently and are serviced differently.
Steam is the older arrangement and survives mostly in older housing, which is where a good share of the oil heat in this state is.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask where the flue terminates and what condition it is in. On an oil appliance the venting is as much a part of the annual check as the burner, and it is the part that is easiest to leave for next year.
