Boiler Repair in Mount Ephraim, NJ
7% of homes in Mount Ephraim heat with oil. That is a small share, and the practical consequence is about availability rather than about the boiler itself.
In brief
The firms that service an oil burner are fewer where oil is a minority fuel, and in Mount Ephraim it heats 7% of homes against 81% on gas. That makes the fuel the first thing to establish rather than the symptom.

How Mount Ephraim heats
The equipment is no different for being uncommon here. It is still a closed loop under pressure with a relief valve and an expansion tank, and the gauge still says more than anything else on the appliance.
| Households in Mount Ephraim | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 7% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 81% |
| Electricity | 12% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 0% |
Across the 113 towns we cover in New Jersey, 12% of households heat with oil. Mount Ephraim sits about level with that.
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25040 (house heating fuel), 2023 release. Universe: 2,265 occupied housing units. This is a fuel table and not an equipment table. It cannot separate a boiler from a furnace, which is why every figure here is stated as a fuel share.
Carbon monoxide
The alarm and the service do different jobs. An alarm tells you combustion has already gone wrong; the annual service is what stops it going wrong. CPSC recommends both, and neither substitutes for the other.

Hot water or steam
If there is a gauge reading in pounds per square inch and a tank somewhere above or beside the boiler, it is a hot water system. If there is a glass tube on the side of the boiler with a water line visible in it, it is steam. The two fail differently and are serviced differently.
Steam is the older arrangement and survives mostly in older housing, which is where a good share of the oil heat in this state is.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask whether the temperature control was commissioned or merely fitted. DOE requires an automatic means for adjusting water temperature on hot water boilers, and a control nobody set up delivers none of what it is for.
