Boiler Repair in Maplewood, NJ

In Maplewood most households heat with something else — oil reaches 10%. The practical effect is on response time rather than on the equipment, and it is worth planning around rather than discovering.

In brief

An oil-fired boiler is the exception in Maplewood: 10% of households heat with fuel oil and 77% with gas. The figure measures house heating fuel rather than the appliance, which is why the fuel and the make are both worth having before anybody is called.

BoilerBridge is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no work, we sell no equipment, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

How Maplewood heats

Where oil is scarce, the annual service is easier to let slide because nobody around you is having one. CPSC recommends it for combustion and venting rather than for the burner, and that reason does not depend on how many houses nearby share your fuel.

Across the 113 towns we cover in New Jersey, 12% of households heat with oil. Maplewood sits 4 points below that.

The Census asks what the house is heated with, not what equipment does the heating. The oil share above therefore includes furnaces as well as boilers.

Carbon monoxide

Carbon monoxide has no smell and no color, which is why the alarm matters more than your own senses do. CPSC recommends alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas, and an annual professional inspection of the heating system whatever it burns.

Hot water or steam

If there is a gauge reading in pounds per square inch and a tank somewhere above or beside the boiler, it is a hot water system. If there is a glass tube on the side of the boiler with a water line visible in it, it is steam. The two fail differently and are serviced differently.

Steam is the older arrangement and survives mostly in older housing, which is where a good share of the oil heat in this state is.

What to ask whoever comes

Ask whether the fault was diagnosed or inferred. "It is probably the circulator" and "the circulator is drawing no current" are different sentences, and only one of them justifies a part.

Checking a plumber in New Jersey

New Jersey licenses are issued by the New Jersey State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers, Division of Consumer Affairs, which publishes a public search you can use before work begins.

A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Should other work in Maplewood need doing, say it on the call.
