Boiler Repair in Berlin, NJ
Only 6% of households in Berlin heat with oil. If yours is one of them you may be the only house on the street with a burner, which changes who you can get and how quickly.
In brief
An oil-fired boiler is the exception in Berlin: 6% of households heat with fuel oil and 82% with gas. The figure measures house heating fuel rather than the appliance, which is why the fuel and the make are both worth having before anybody is called.

How Berlin heats
A minority fuel means minority parts. A nozzle and a filter are ordinary stock for somebody who works on oil weekly and a special trip for somebody who does not, which is the difference between a part on the van and a part on order.
| Households in Berlin | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 6% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 82% |
| Electricity | 12% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | under 1% |
Across the 113 towns we cover in New Jersey, 12% of households heat with oil. Berlin sits about level with that.

Whether it feeds a boiler or a warm-air furnace is not in the table, and no published figure at this geography settles it.
Carbon monoxide
If a CO alarm sounds, CPSC’s instruction is to move outside to fresh air immediately, call emergency services or 911, do a headcount, and not go back in until responders say so. Not open windows first, and not look for the source.

Hot water or steam
The quickest way to tell is the water. A hot water system is a sealed loop under pressure with a gauge reading psi; a steam system boils, sends vapor up and lets the condensate run back down by gravity. They are serviced differently and they fail differently, and knowing which you have shortens the first call.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask what the pressure on the gauge should read for this system and what it reads now. On a hot water boiler those two numbers explain most of the complaints people call about, and almost nobody is told what the target is.

A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Past boilers, Berlin is covered for the rest of it.
