Boiler Repair in Nebo, NC
10% of homes in Nebo heat with oil. That is a small share, and the practical consequence is about availability rather than about the boiler itself.
In brief
Fuel oil accounts for 10% of household heating in Nebo and gas for 12%, with other fuels taking the rest. An oil boiler is a minority appliance there, and it is serviced annually rather than repaired when it stops.

How Nebo heats
The equipment is no different for being uncommon here. It is still a closed loop under pressure with a relief valve and an expansion tank, and the gauge still says more than anything else on the appliance.
| Households in Nebo | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 10% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 12% |
| Electricity | 66% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 12% |
Across the 49 towns we cover in North Carolina, 7% of households heat with oil. Nebo sits about level with that.

This is a fuel table and not an equipment table. It cannot separate a boiler from a furnace, which is why every figure here is stated as a fuel share.
Carbon monoxide
The reason CPSC ties annual servicing to CO is that the failure is in the combustion or the venting rather than in the fuel. A system that heats perfectly well can be venting badly, and nothing inside the house will tell you except an alarm.

Hot water or steam
Knowing whether the system is hot water or steam saves a visit. A steam boiler has a sight glass and a low water cutoff; a hot water boiler has a circulator, an expansion tank and a pressure gauge worth reading. Almost nothing that is true of one is true of the other.
DOE regulates them separately too, at slightly different AFUE minimums by fuel and type.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask whether the fault was diagnosed or inferred. "It is probably the circulator" and "the circulator is drawing no current" are different sentences, and only one of them justifies a part.

Checking a plumber in North Carolina
North Carolina licenses are issued by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors, which publishes a public search you can use before work begins.
A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Past boilers, Nebo is covered for the rest of it.
